This role is responsible for purchasing, inventory management, vendor coordination, and material support for our Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, and Residential New Construction (RNC) departments.
Key ResponsibilitiesPurchasing & Inventory Management
- Create and issue Purchase Orders (POs) for materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Pull materials and equipment from warehouse and consignment inventory.
- Ensure all POs are properly received and closed daily.
- Track truck stock minimum/maximum levels and coordinate replenishments.
- Perform supply house runs as needed to support field operations.
- Participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
Residential New Construction (RNC) Support
- Create and manage RNC Purchase Orders.

About the Role
The HVAC Quality Control Technician serves as the final line of defense before a job is considered complete. Your responsibility is to ensure every installation meets ASTAR's standards for quality, safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
You'll perform detailed quality inspections, resolve warranty concerns, identify workmanship issues, and provide coaching opportunities that help our entire team improve.
Your goal is simple:
Deliver every customer the confidence that their HVAC system was installed correctly the first time.
Primary ResponsibilitiesQuality Control
Perform comprehensive quality inspections on completed HVAC installations
Verify installations meet manufacturer specifications, local code requirements, and Astar quality standards
Inspect workmanship, equipment operation, airflow, refrigerant performance, drainage, electrical connections, and overall system performance
Identify deficiencies and document corrective actions
Ensure every system is operating safely and efficiently before final approval
Warranty & Diagnostics
Respond to warranty calls and determine root causes
Troubleshoot heating and cooling system issues
Diagnose electrical and mechanical failures
Repair HVAC components as necessary
Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently
System Performance
Verify proper airflow, static pressure, temperature split, refrigerant charge, and equipment performance
Troubleshoot gas furnaces, electric heating systems, and heat pumps
Correct condensation and drainage issues
Confirm systems are operating at peak efficiency
Documentation & Communication
Complete detailed inspection reports
Document quality concerns and recommendations
Submit parts and equipment requests when necessary

As the Lead HVAC Warranty Technician, you will oversee warranty-related service calls while serving as the technical expert for installation quality and post-installation support.
You'll diagnose and resolve warranty concerns, perform advanced troubleshooting, ensure manufacturer warranty compliance, and work closely with our installation, service, and quality control teams to identify trends and improve overall workmanship.
This is a leadership role that requires strong technical knowledge, professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to delivering five-star customer service.
Key Responsibilities Warranty Service
- Respond to residential HVAC warranty calls
- Diagnose and repair equipment covered under manufacturer and company warranties
- Troubleshoot complex heating and cooling system issues
- Resolve customer concerns efficiently and professionally
- Complete repairs while minimizing repeat visits
Leadership
- Serve as the lead technician for all warranty-related issues
- Provide technical guidance and support to service and installation technicians
- Assist with training and coaching team members
- Help identify recurring installation or equipment issues
- Recommend process improvements to reduce warranty callbacks
Technical Responsibilities
- Diagnose electrical, refrigerant, airflow, and mechanical issues
- Repair gas furnaces, electric heating systems, heat pumps, and air conditioning systems
- Verify refrigerant charge, airflow, static pressure, temperature split, and system performance
- Complete manufacturer warranty documentation when required
- Maintain accurate service records and repair notes
Customer Experience
- Educate homeowners on proper system operation
- Communicate repairs clearly and professionally
- Ensure every customer receives a five-star experience
- Represent Astar with professionalism and integrity
✅ Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5+ years of Residential HVAC Service experience preferred
- Proven experience troubleshooting advanced HVAC systems
- Previous leadership or mentoring experience preferred
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while supporting team success
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
Requirements
- EPA Universal Certification
- Current Texas TDLR Registration
- Valid Driver's License with an insurable driving record
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass background screening
- Ability to lift equipment and work in varying weather conditions
- Ability to participate in rotating on-call schedule
