What UV Treatment Addresses & What It Leaves Behind

A point-of-entry UV system treats water as it enters the property. Inside its chamber, a quartz sleeve protects a UV lamp that exposes flowing water to germicidal UV-C light. This light inactivates bacteria, viruses, and protozoa by disrupting their ability to reproduce. The process doesn’t add treatment chemicals or change the water’s taste or odor.

UV light disinfects water, but it doesn’t physically remove contaminants. Sediment and cloudiness can also prevent the light from reaching microorganisms, so a sediment pre-filter is commonly installed before the UV chamber. Depending on your water conditions, we may recommend pairing UV with hardness treatment, carbon filtration, or reverse osmosis. The UV unit typically serves as the final disinfection stage.
